Nationwide Cohort study on the development of diagnosis and treatment of pheochromocytoma in Japan (PHEO-J)

Aim

The aim of the study is to establish disease registry for elucidation of the effects of treatment and prognosis and to establish the early diagnostic methods with biochemical and histopathological markers

Subjects

Inclusion criteria:

 1. Patients with pheochromocytoma who visited outpatient clinics and hospitals during April 1,

     2008 to March 31, 2012

 2. Age: more than 20 years of age

 3. Gender: male and female

Exclusion criteria

   1. Patients not visited during the specified period

   2. Patients treated at the outpatients clinics and hospitals other than those specified

   3. Patients who do not full-fill the diagnostic criteria

 

Methods

Study design: Observational, multi-center study

Target sample size: 2,500 cases

 

End point

Primary outcomes

  1. Elucidation of the therapeutic effects and prognosis by establishing disease registry

  2. Establishment of the early diagnostic method by central analysis of histopathological

      markers Secondary outcome

  3.Improvement of the prognosis of pheochromocytoma

Research period

 1. Case recruitment: April, 2010-March, 2013

 2. Follow-up: April, 2011-March, 2014

 3. Secondary use in the subsequent research: Succeeded to ACPA-J (PHEO-J2)

      from March, 2016
